A Great Week Ahead for Zoo Train Track Cleanup 🌿
Good news, Zoo Train supporters! After checking the weather forecast, our fearless cleanup leader Bill Burgel reports that Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday through Saturday are shaping up to be excellent days for getting outside and caring for the Zoo Train tracks in Washington Park.
This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, lend a hand, and help prepare the historic Zoo Train corridor for its future. Whether you can join us for one day or several, we’d love to see you.

Friday, January 16 | 1:30–3:30 PM
Saturday, January 17 | 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
Sunday, January 18 | 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
Monday - Saturday, January 19 - January 24 | 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
📍 Meeting Location
Big Meadow Parking Lot, Hoyt Arboretum
(SW Kingston Drive about half-way in-between the Zoo and the Rose Garden)
Cleanup crews will be working in both directions from the crossing area, helping clear invasive plants and debris along the tracks.
🧤 What to Expect & How to Prepare
Winter conditions mean it may be cold and a bit slippery, so please come dressed appropriately:
Sturdy shoes
Safety glasses
Heavy gloves
đź§° Tools (Optional but Helpful)
If you have them, feel free to bring:
Pruning shears or loppers
Brush hooks
Rakes or clippers
Weed cutters or a weed wrench
⚠️ Important reminder: Please don’t leave valuables in your car. Unfortunately, car break-ins have been occurring in the park.
If the weather changes significantly, Bill will cancel the cleanup for that day and we’ll be sure to notify everyone promptly.
